William Tatum, MD
Dr. William O. Tatum IV is professor at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, a senior consultant and is board-certified in Neurology, Clinical Neurophysiology, and Epilepsy. He has chaired the division of Epilepsy and past director of the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit at the Mayo Clinic in Florida. He is the current Director for the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center and is a fellow in the AAN, ACNS, and AES after completing his Neurology residency at Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois, and a two-year epilepsy fellowship at Graduate Hospital, University of Pennsylvania before joining the Mayo Clinic in 2009.

He is a past president of the ABCN, ACNS, and past Chair of the AAN Clinical Neurophysiology section. He has served on the board of directors for the Neurodiagnostic Society and EFA professional advisory board.  He has authored/co-authored more than 325 peer-reviewed manuscripts, 48 book chapters, and edited/co-edited 8 books/editions in the field of epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology. He is the previous Book editor for the Journal of Clinical Neurophysiology and currently serves on the editorial board. He is the immediate past Editor-in-Chief of the peer-reviewed journal, Epilepsy and Behavior Reports. He presents lecturesnationally and internationally as an invited lecturer. He continues as principal investigator for ongoing pharmacologic and device trials in patients with drug resistant epilepsy. Research interests reside in medical and surgical treatment of drug-resistant epilepsy, seizure semiology,and EEG/clinical neurophysiology. He has intramural and extramural grant funding and holds patents/patents pending for 2 intraoperative monitoring sensing devices.

Dr. Schuele headshot
Stephan U. Schuele, MD, MPH
Dr. Schuele is Head of the Comprehensive Epilepsy Program at Northwestern University since 2006 and the Medical Director of the Neurological Testing Center at Northwestern Memorial Hospital since 2012. He holds an appointment as Professor of Neurology at Feinberg School of Medicine and a joint appointment for Physical Medicine &Rehabilitation at the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab.  

Dr. Schuele graduated from Witten/Herdecke University in Germany and completed his Neurology residency and a two-year fellowship training in Clinical Epilepsy/Neurophysiology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio. Dr. Schuele is Board-Certified in Neurology, Clinical Neurophysiology and Epilepsy. His research focuses on seizure semiology, surgical epilepsy and sudden unexpected death in epilepsy. He is the current Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Clinical Neurophysiology.

Donald Schomer, MD
Dr Schomer is the Emeritus Chief of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center’s Laboratory of Clinical Neurophysiology and its Comprehensive Epilepsy Program in Boston, Massachusetts. I came to Boston and to the Harvard University Medical School in 1980. I graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1972 and trained in Internal Medicine through Columbia University’s program at the Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital and then moved to Montreal, Quebec. There, I trained both in Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology/Epilepsy at the Montreal Neurological Institute, McGill University where I had the good fortune of having Pierre Gloor, Herbert Jasper, Wilder Penfield, Ted Rasmussen and Fred Andermann as some of my mentors.

During my more than 45 years at Harvard, I have served as the President of the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society in 2005 and received from them the “Pierre Gloor, MD. PhD” and “Herbert Jasper, MD, PhD” awards in 2012 and 2016 respectfully. I was awarded the Kiffin Penry, MD award for Distinguish lifetime career in Clinical Epilepsy by the American Epilepsy Society in 2016.  I was the Chairman of the Examination Board of the ABCN for 5 years from 2005 to 2010
I was a “Visiting Lecturer” in the Department of Brain and Cognitive Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1985-2004 and was a member of their CRC Oversight Committee. I served as an “Interim Director of the Clinical Epilepsy Program and Seizure Unit” at the Children's Hospital in Boston, Mass. between1986-1989 following the retirement of Dr. C. Lombroso, MD, PhD.  During and following a sabbatical leave from Harvard, I was a “Visiting Professor of Neurology” at the University of Geneva in Geneva, Switzerland from 1995-2010
I had the great honor of being selected as an “Outside Member of the Nominating Committee” for the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 15 times. I was the section editor for central neurophysiology and epilepsy for the Annals of Neurology for 8 years and I have been an editor for the Niedermeyer Textbook of Clinical Neurophysiology since 2010. Currently, I am retired and remain an Emeritus Professor of Neurology at Harvard University and continue to work on the above-mentioned textbook which is due out in early 2027.
